Alfonso Faustino: My Crypt In Beverly Hills, CA

This is the crypt I keep in Beverly Hills, California. I also keep a crypt in New York’s Manhattan. Prior to the pandemic, I dwelled in my crypt in Beverly Hills, CA, for most the year due to my career pursuits, as a television and film actor.

During the US Open Tennis Tournaments, I am in my crypt in Manhattan, New York, New York.

I rent both crypts — I do not own them…eventually, after I book a major gig, I will put that paycheck towards the purchase of my own place in Beverly Hills, CA.

Other places I’m interested in purchasing are in New York, New York’s Manhattan area, and Bologna, Italy. For now, I rent in these two locations.

Today is 30-July-2021, I’m back in my crypt in Beverly Hills, CA . I will be here for the remainder of the year…then, I will be back to San Francisco, CA for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Yes, the zip code is the cliché 90210 for those of you aware of that television series…you know…the one about the black talking Pontiac Trans Am named KITT and lives in Beverly Hills, CA and goes to high school with other talking cars like Christine, Bumblebee, Herbie, Chitty-Bang-Bang, and others. They talk about stuff that all teenagers talk about: best oils to use, RainX, best coating to protect the paint under harsh elements, and so on.

Ha! I was just razzin’ you…but, seriously, 90210 is the zipper for my Beverly Hills crypt, and there was a television series about kids in the 90210 zipper, but I never watched it; cuz, television series like that never interested me.

Today, we celebrated Victoria’s birfday! Actually, her birfday was 10-July; but, we’re milkin’ it. We spent the entire day and night in the magical land that brought out the kids in us: Disneyland.

I had so much fun; cuz, I had not been there in such a long time. The first time I was there was at 10 years old with my sister, mum, and dad. The second time I was there was in my late 20s for a corporate event for MCI Telecommunications. So, this was my third time back; and, I was excited to take in the whole Disneyland experience with Victoria; cuz, she had never been.

Whenever I visit a new place, like a country, I immerse myself in that place. I learn about the people, food, and language; and, Disneyland is no different. I immersed myself in the world of Disneyland; and, I felt I was 10 again while being with Victoria and experiencing all the magic of this never aging land! That’s the magic of Disneyland — if you can let yourself go…forget your age…open your mind to the amazing events, people, rides, attractions, and so on, the child in you will surface, and your experiences at Disneyland will be infinitely better!

I’ve been blessed by the Trinity not to have ANY interest whatsoever to be a father — I am way too selfish to have kids; BUT, I do like kids — especially, observing them in Disneyland.

Kids in Disneyland make the whole experience of Disneyland…I was entertained by their excitement and belief of the reality of Disneyland — such high evaluation and specificity — terms I learned from my acting classes.

Ha! I really dig this picture of us…obviously, because, Victoria is in it; BUT, more importantly, because, we got photo-bombed by a cute young lady that was waiting in line behind us at the Pirates of the Caribbean — kids!

Did you spot the photo bomber? She very sneaky and subtle — a pro!

During the fireworks show, I was so mesmerized by a little Latin girl, I’m guessing she was around three years old, all decked out in a princess gown she must have worn the whole day. She wore that gown with pride — much like the way adults wear their favorite basketball team’s cap or jersey.

By the way, like yours truly, Victoria digs her firearms; and, she’s a helluva shot…yeah, she beat me in this shoot-out; I will get the win next time.

We had the park-hopper passes, which meant we could visit BOTH Disneyland and Avenger World. But for Victoria not having been to Disneyland, I would have stayed the entire day and night at Disneyland and not had any interest to visit Avenger World. I’m glad she got to experience both Disneyland and Disneyland’s Avenger World.

Come to think about it, in retrospect, I think it was good I visited Avenger World; so, I can unequivocally state, “Disneyland, in my experiences, is still the best!”

It’s kinda like people who have never visited other countries saying, “America is the best country in the world.”

“Well, why is America the best country in the world?”

I visited many countries, and I can unequivocally say, “America is the best country in the world for these reasons….”

I made sure Victoria hit all the top spots checked off my A-list for her day at Disneyland:

  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • It’s a Small World
  • Haunted House
  • Indiana Jones
  • Star Wars
  • Disneyland Fireworks
  • Blue Bayou Restaurant
  • Space Mountain (it was the last ride after the fireworks; it was late…we bounced — line was way too long — she was getting tired)

Of course, we did other rides, like this amazing Indians Jones ATV ride through some far-off jungle, and we did Web Slinger in Avenger World.

I just couldn’t stop my heart from melting whenever I would sneak a glance at her throughout the day and night taking in and feeling her child-like wonderment come out.

I also dig that she can effectively and efficiently navigate through Disneyland by reading the map. She loves maps. As a little girl, Victoria use to read maps to her mum as she drove around town. So, during our stay in Disneyland, she was the navigator; I would tell her the next ride, and she would map it out and get us there. I’m of the belief that it’s an important element in a relationship when two people can travel well together and work as a team to get to their objectives and goals for the day…she and I did pretty well in Disneyland.

Back to Disneyland…she’s a helluvan all terrain driver in the jungle of Indiana Jones!

This was the first time I did the Jungle Safari. She was amazed by the life-size reality of all the animals.

life-size giraffes…

the life-size elephants are truly details — vein running through the flaps of their ears…

cobras were regal and majestic…

The fireworks were, of course, the climax of the whole experience, and she loved it! She has pictures of those…my iPhone 12 Pro ran out of power; and, Disneyland doesn’t have charging stations; and, stupid me forgot to bring my portable charger — “and you’re an SAR guy?!!?!!” Yeah —yeah I get it!

After the fireworks ended, it was time to go. I didn’t wanna go; I still had so much energy in me to stay. As we walked toward that visible line that separated Disneyland from the outside world, I can feel myself transmuting from that 10 year old version of myself to the 56 year old version of myself.

Instead of having, “It’s a small world after all,” play in my head, it was quickly replaced by audition schedules, paying bills by the first of the month, making sure I fed my snakes, and so on.

As fast as it came, our time ended the moment we step foot out of Disneyland…those magical moments we had in that magical place disappeared. The dose of reality hit our faces…instead of the lights of Main Street, we were hit with the traffic lights of backed up cars on South Harbor Boulevard. Instead of musical sounds and high-pitched voices of kids and Disney characters, we were hit by droning engine sounds, as cars fought to get in and out of traffic lanes. Instead of being in the world of magic and eternal childhood, we were back into the world of traffic, rude people, and litter.

Instead of hustling through Disneyland to get to rides and shows, she and I were hustling throughout the pedestrian and vehicle traffic on South Harbor Boulevard to get our Lyft driver to get us home. Traffic on the 5 was backed up adding another splash of reality of our normal world.

She returned to being a grown woman pursuing her acting career; and,

I returned to being a grown man pursuing my own acting career.

As we diverge from that magical day to our daily lives, hopefully, the memories and pictures we have of each other will remind us that we shared something most people don’t get to experience as adults…enjoying each other’s company for no other reason other than a child-like fun of exploring a world full of wonderment and imagination together.

With those wonderful magical moments behind me, it was time to head back to my crypt and take in the whole atmosphere of being back in my Beverly Hills, crypt.

While in lines at Disneyland, I heard many people talk about wanting to live in the imaginary world of Disneyland; and, yes, I thought the same while spending time there; but, I got to thinking more about it…would I wanna live in Disneyland for the rest of my life?

Although my experiences at Disneyland were magical and fun, my real world is pretty bad-ass and fun, too. Sure, I don’t have the Pirates of the Caribbean on my property, but I do have a lot of other cool stuff to do and experience while I pursue my acting career.

Most importantly, I need to experience the rough times and not be sheltered by those rough times; because, those rough times make me strong. Those rough times my family and I experienced in the past were necessary for me and my family to find a way to succeed by creating the very blessed and beautiful life we have today — thanks to the guidance of the Trinity to help us find solutions to work through those rough times.

Equally important, we can look back at those rough times and appreciate and be grateful for all we have in our lives today.

As an actor, the rough times of rejections, while unpleasant, are still a necessary blessing for me; because, those rejections helped me find ways to be a better actor today and tomorrow; and, when I do get my break-through, I can look back and appreciate the fact that I worked through those rough times to earn my spot in the film and television industries.

The same holds true for Victoria…her mum, like my mum, constantly encourages her to pursue her acting career especially during her weakest moments.

(I’m truly blessed…a lot of no-name actors aren’t getting auditions; however, I have been averaging two auditions a day, with major television networks and feature film studios, since I became a full-time LA actor in November 2018…so, for me, as a non-name actor, all my auditions are a blessing! Even during the pandemic I was still auditioning while others were not — truly blessed!)

In my experiences, parental guidance and family support, are key towards getting to your objectives and goals; and, the Trinity blessed me with an awesome family.

So, No, I would not want to live in Disneyland; my life is perfect the way it is — blemishes, dents, scrapes, and all!

Alright, back to my Beverly Hills, 90210 crypt…

Nataya, is the owner of this beautiful Beverly Hills mansion. She is from Russia, and like my father, mum, sister, and I, we come from a very same background: strong family values and work like hell to pursue and achieve your dreams! Like I, Nataya knows the way to effectuate her dreams and goals! She inspires me, as an actor, to pursue my dreams and not give up! She reminds me so much of my dad and mum.

This weekend, 31-July-2021, she is in her newly-purchased crypt in Malibu, CA — the “hood” as I like to make fun with her. She just purchased it, and this weekend she’s over there going over the plans to remodel it. She mentioned that property will also be available to me.

The experience to my Beverly Hills crypt starts with the drive up. Like Disneyland, the moment your vehicle enters Beverly Hills proper, you are shielded from the rest of the LA scene. The streets are clean and safe, and the streetlights resemble the streetlights on Disneyland’s Main Street. The sidewalks are perfectly maintained — no cracks, gum, nor other debris.

An architectural variety of stunning mansions, traditional, colonial, and modern high-tech Tony Stark mansions, decorate the Beverly Hills mountain and the streets leading up to my crypt. In every way, the scene is similar to Disneyland — sterile, no litter, no homeless people, safe, manicured lawns, and hedges.

Like Disneyland the demarcation between the rest of LA and Beverly Hills is noticeable; and, once you enter Beverly Hills, you get that same sensation as you enter Disneyland…amazement and visual stimulation of a beautiful city — of course, not as grand and as powerful like Disneyland, but the sensations are similar.

As your five-minute drive up from Santa Monica Boulevard to my Beverly Hills crypt ends, you’re greeted by one of my favorite-looking entry ways…the front door. I dig the Mediterranean look with the California fusion of palm trees.

It’s been a while since I had stayed here…almost two years since I left FOR San Francisco due to the pandemic. Victoria didn’t go back home during the pandemic; she stayed in her apartment in Los Angeles, CA; so, there was no adjustments for her.

I felt at home. Nataya had been doing some remodeling; so, my new amenities were a pleasant surprise.

Tomorrow morning, 31-July-2021, I will read my script in the front garden; I will enjoy the t-shirt and shorts weather; I will have many great conversations with the Trinity asking Him to keep me positive with my acting career objectives and goals; and, I will have a pitcher of iced tea to hydrate and refresh me under the California sun.

Prior to the pandemic, I would go to The Beverly Hills Hotel to read my script and memorize my lines at poolside.

This is the pathway to my studio from the main house; and, this is my studio’s front door entrance from the main house.

Nataya put in a little garden for me in front of my studio.

Major updates to my studio…

master bedroom — ha…it’s the only bedroom, so I guess it ain’t a master bedroom — I’m so use to my crypt in San Francisco, which has seven bedrooms in total…

a new walk-in closet; though, I don’t keep a lot of clothes here; because, I’m not down here to socialize nor party…this studio is strictly a place for me to sleep, eat, meet my audition coach, and memorize my lines for my auditions, and poop — that’s it — I am laser-focused with my mission — book gigs!

I’m not here to make friends nor to be seen at the newest and hottest spots in SoCal — I am here to to achieve my acting objectives and goals — that is it! I’m am laser-focused when I’m in SoCal — auditions, eat, sleep, and poop…and repeat…I don’t hang out with other actors nor my acting classmates…my focus is to book my auditions…that’s it…

this is my FAVORITE update Nataya did for me…a brand new bathroom with a BRAND NEW BATH TUB!!!

I love baths; and, now, I can have one and many during my residence here.

After my Disneyland experience with Victoria, I was pleasantly rewarded with a warm bubble-bath…I love bubble baths.

I thanked the Trinity for my blessed life and my day at Disneyland with Victoria, as I soaked in the tub as I transitioned to a pre-REM state…que music…

TWO OF THE LUCKY ONES

By The Droge and Summers Blend

Standing on a hill, staring at a mountain
Swallows dive and turn, trying to catch what we can’t see
Sure ain’t the first time, hope it ain’t the last time

When all the work is done, by the light of a setting sun
We see what we’ve become
two of the lucky ones

The wind is gonna blow, trees are gonna sway in kind
And babe, I know you know…they don’t have to try
Sure ain’t the first time, hope it ain’t the last time

When all the work is done, by the light of a setting sun
We see what we’ve become
two of the lucky ones

For the very first time, there’s no words to be found
Opened up our eyes, there was love all around

When all the work is done, by the light of a setting sun
We see what we’ve become
two of the lucky ones
Standing on a hill, staring at a mountain
