Alfonso Faustino: 2017 San Francisco Fleet Week: Blue Angels: My Crib!

I am pro-military — especially, pro US Navy — my father served 25 years of his life contributing to making America Great.  The US Military, especially, the US Navy, can do NO wrong in my eyes.  I always vote for increasing the military budget; and, I always vote against cutting back our military spending.

Anyway, every year, since we built our brand new building at The Top Of Nob Hill, construction completed on 2014, we have Fleet Week Party on my penthouse deck.

Then, when our newly adopted family member, “Doc” (Charles Scott, M.D.) moved into his house, one house up from ours, we combined our Fleet Week party; and, we are the hottest ticket in San Francisco at this event of the year.

We pay for professional bartenders, this year, four of them; we pay for all the alcohol and sodas for about 80 guests; and, we use to provide food, but we now changed it to a pot-luck; because, the clean-up was just too labor-intensive for me, my sis, Irene Faustino, and Doc.

Now, through my connections with an admiral of the US Navy, via my father, I went to the Officer’s Club at Fort Mason, the St. Francisco Yacht Club, or was the Admiral’s guest on one of his US Navy boats — usually, always an aircraft carrier — I’ve viewed the Blue Angels from the tower and vulture’s row of the USS Enterprise, USS “Connie” Constellation, the USS Carl Vinson, and the USS Abraham Lincoln — go VF-213! (The navy personnel affectionately call their ships, boats.)

While those were great an awesome experiences, nothing beats watching the Blue Angels and the Parade Of Ships than my penthouse deck — it IS the best seat in the house; and, if you ever get invited to my crib for Fleet Week, you WILL unequivocally agree — no doubt about it!

So, I wish you all an awesome time viewing this weekend’s events — check 6 and turn-n-burn!

Check 6!

  1. Cool post! I came very close to joining the military ๐Ÿ’™. I had narrowed it down to either the Air Force or the Navy. My cousin’s wife (an awesome, earthy lady!) obliged me very graciously when I peppered her with questions about what it was like. She was very upfront, presenting a very balanced and realistic view. She’s always been sort of a role model for me ๐Ÿ˜Š

I now live in a big town that is nicknamed “Military City”, as we have 7 (!) bases and lots of active military here, as well as reserve and retired military. The military loves us and we love them. My neighbor, a *great* guy, is retired military, and very down to earth. My granddad fought in WWII, in Germany in the Battle of the Bulge. He was wounded by shrapnel, but survived, and he was an amazing man. I also dated a USAF Reserve for 2 years. It didn’t work out and we haven’t been in contact, but although our relationship was difficult, I have fond memories of him ๐Ÿ˜Š

I love what you do and how you write! Thanks for letting me ramble on about my story lol ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™

    1. Hi, Laina.

We have so much in common; and, I really like that you understand me — not many people do…it’s nice because I don’t have to try hard with you…we seem to speak believe in the no non-sense common-sense language and lifestyle.

I bet your grand-pappy knew my pappy. My pappy fought end of WWII, Korean War, and part of Viet Nam. I’m thankful for your grand-pappy’s military service — because of him, I have the liberties I have today, and he contributed to making America Great.

You’re fortunate to live in a place that has active military bases. I miss the Presidio Of San Francisco when it was an active military base; I also miss Alameda Naval Air Station.

I’m glad your grand-pappy survived he war and recovered from his injuries.

I never dated a military woman. I’m glad you have fond memories of your ex.

I like reading everything you write about…I think you’re just swell.

      1. Aww! I wouldn’t be surprised if they did know each other! ๐Ÿ’“. Amen to making America great ๐Ÿ‘. I hope we can achieve that again ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ. I love reading your posts too! And the swell feelings are very mutual ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ™Œโค๏ธ
