I made certain my Motorola XPR 7550e, Yaesu FT1XDR, and Yaesu FT-857D were all programmed for Marine, Air, and Land frequencies for emergency comm operations into Sierra Nevada. It took me about 24 hours to complete my code-plugs for all my transceivers.
So, today, 13-August-2017, at 0800 Hours PDT, all these transceivers, Boss, and I will rendezvou with another part of the team at Check-point-Charlie, somewhere in the desolate part of the Sierra Nevadas, absent of mobile phone coverage and the public, with our transceivers and go through our exercises.
As we entered Lake Tahoe yesterday, 12-August-2017, cell coverage was out; but, my trusted Motorola XPR 7550e and Yaesu FT1XDR provided me with excellent APRS GPS tracking and communications coverage to various land, sea (lake), and air net controls.
It’s Sunday, 13-August-2017, at 0633 Hours PDT. Weather in the mountains looks good. I’m gonna get out of bed, shower, get dressed, pack up and meet Boss for an 0800-hours deployment into the mountains. I will update this BLOG with more sight pictures of our mission.
